Welcome back! I am James Reynolds, this is a second in a three part video series on how to get your website found on the search engines. In this video you’ll learn how to get your websites showing up in more places in Google.

If you’ve explored the options in Google, you’ll know that it has different types of search results. You can search the webs results, you can search the image results, you can search the video results. You can even search things like news and blogs and many other options as well. Your prospects are searching in all of these places, then why limit yourself to just the web results? In this video, I’ll show you how to get your website showing up in not just the web results, but the image results, the video results, and even the Google Maps section as well.

To have your images show up in the image results you need to make sure that your images are optimized, because Google just can’t read images so you need to help them by explaining what each image is all about. If you’ve got a content management system on your website, something like a WordPress or a Joomla, it’s quite easy. If you’ve got a custom coded website then you might need a little bit of help from your developer.

Here’s the process: first of all, what you want to do is rename the file name of the picture to describe what the image is. Let’s say, blue-widget.jpg. The second thing that you want to do is upload it to your site and give that image a title. Again, the same type of name that your file name is just fine, again, you can call it blue widget. The third step is to give your image an alternative description. This is called the Alt Tag and in this field you want to basically describe what the picture is all about. So, as an example, here again, it might be blue widget against white background.  Once you’ve done all of these steps, when someone then searches for blue widget within the image search results, somewhere within the results your picture should show up.

To get your website listed in the video results, you’ll of course need to have some video content on your website. That’s the first step. You could use a YouTube player and as long as you complete the title, the description, select some appropriate tags for your video which should include the keywords you want to target, whenever someone searches those keywords, somewhere within the results, your video should show up. However, when they click on those results, they’re going to go through to the YouTube page, not through to your website.

Using a video player like Wistia which has a very effective video SEO setting and is the video player I’m using to stream this video, you can use the same information, things like title and description but then have your video on your website showing up in the search results, and not YouTube. With more and more people consuming video, this is one of the most effective things you can do to increase your search engine results.

Now, on to step three on this video, and that’s to have your website showing up within the Google Maps listings. If you follow the advice in video #1 and you’ve registered your Google+ for business page, your website should soon start showing up within the maps listings.

To increase the amount of time that it shows up, you want to make sure that your profile is filled out in full and it has your keywords in place within the description section. You also want to encourage how many people actually leave reviews on your Google+ page. The more reviews you get, the more authority Google sees you as having and the greater the likelihood of your result showing up within the maps listings. Then go out there and encourage more people to review your Google+ page.

If you have any questions, please post them beneath this video, I’ll be around to answer them for you. So your action steps are this: Optimize your images on your site with titles and alt descriptions, make sure that you start using video on your website, and use a player like Wistia and fill in its SEO settings, and the third step, if you’ve not done so already, is to register a Google+ for business page, but then start encouraging people to review your listing.

Okay, so that’s it. I’m going to see you back here for the next video where I’ll teach you how to increase the amount of times that your website shows up within the search results. I’ll see you back here then.
