Hello! I am James Reynolds and welcome back to Visible the beginner’s guide to getting your website found on the search engines. In this third and final video in the series, you’re going to discover how to get your website showing up in more search results.
Every day, over 1 billion queries are typed in to the major search engines. 15% of which have never been searched before. So your prospects are using all types of phrasing and terminology to find the products that you offer. And the more of their queries you can have your website show up for, the better.
In order to increase the number of searches in which your website appears, you must create more content and lots of it. Each additional page that you have on your website is another listing in Google’s index and another opportunity for you to rank. But creating content that’s relevant and interesting is hard, right? Well, it doesn’t have to be. When you follow the approach that I’m about to share with you, you’ll find creating content both fun and easy and you’ll have an endless supply of content ideas to tap in to at absolute will.
So what is the approach? It’s a way of creating content that I first discovered from my friend Marcus Sheridan called, they ask you answer. Here’s how it works. Take a sheet of paper and write down every single question that a prospect or customer has ever asked you. In that session, you should be able to come up with somewhere between thirty and fifty questions quite easily. Take that question exactly as written and turn them in to the titles for your blog posts. Here’s some sample post titles from my own business, SEO Sherpa.
- How Much Does SEO Cost?
- Which Is Better- SEO or SEM?
- When Should I Start SEO?
- How Long Does It Take To Rank On The Search Engines Using SEO?
In your blog post, you simply introduce the question and then you answer it, simple as that. So here’s what an introduction might look like:
As an SEO specialist, I am often asked the question how much does SEO cost? It’s a great question and one that many people ask me. I am going to attempt to answer that question in this post. And then of course you answer that question using as many or as few words as required but aiming for about 400 words or more if possible.
If you watched video#2 in the series, you’ll remember that if you add optimized images and videos to your website, you can show up in more types of search results. So to really make the most of the They Ask You Answer you might want to answer those questions on video then have that video transcribed in to text and then upload an optimized image to your website. That will have you showing up in not just the web results but the image results and also video results too.
I absolutely love the You Ask They Answer Method because it’s quick and it’s easy and you’re creating content around the exact questions that your prospects are typing in to the search engines.
So let’s summarize this all with some action steps:
- Write down every single question your prospects or customers have ever asked you.
- Turn those questions in to media rich blog posts.
- Publish 2 or 3 posts to your blog each week and then sit back and watch your site get listed for more and more search terms.
